December 6. Join Missoula in Motion's (MIM) Way to Go Club members and Bike Walk Alliance for Missoula (BWAM) in the Parade of lights! Shed some "light" on the benefits of sustainable transportation -- bike, walk, skate -- decorate your human-powered conveyance with lights, and augment your collection with a free blinking light supplied by MIM. December 8. Wood to Energy Workshop. Helena Regional Airport, Helena. This 5 hour workshop will provide an introduction to wood energy technologies and the challenges and opportunities for wood energy in Montana. There will be a lunchtime demonstration of the Biomax 25 Power System which produces both electricity and heat from wood scraps and forest and agricultural residues. The workshop is co-hosted by the US Forest Service and Montana Dept. of Natural Resources and Conservation (DNRC) with co-sponsorship by CTA Architects and Engineers and McKinstry Co. December 8-12. Home Energy Rater Training. NCAT Office, Butte. This workshop is a comprehensive energy auditor training with an emphasis on new residential construction and the HERS rating process. This workshop will incorporate information about how the Energy Star New Homes program is operated both nationally and in the four northwest states. This training is intended to prepare the participant to take the tests necessary to become a certified HERS Rater, an Energy Star Homes Northwest Energy Star Verifier, and an Energy Star Homes Northwest Performance Tester. This training is the first step to becoming qualified to provide certification for the Federal Tax Credit for energy efficient new homes. the National Center for Appropriate Technology (NCAT) is a RESNET accredited HERS Rater Training Provider.
